The Amherst College women’s hockey team defended its NESCAC title after shutting out Colby, 1-0, during the 2026 NESCAC Championship game on Sunday at Chip Kenyon Arena at Middlebury College.
Senior goalie Natalie Stott stopped all 39 shots faced (season high), while senior defender Gretchen Dann pocketed the game’s only goal, which also upped the blueliner’s season total to 14 (team high).
The win gave the Mammoths their seventh NESCAC crown in program history and fifth during head coach Jeff Matthews’ tenure.
Amherst advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament, where it’ll host College of Saint Benedict next Saturday, March 14 at Orr Rink, in the first round.
The Mammoths made it to the NCAA Div. III final last season, before falling to University of Wisconsin – River Falls, 3-1.
Amherst hasn’t won a national championship since 2010.
