Opening the day was the menโ€™s saber event, with the Blue Devils winning their first matchup against Brooke, 5-2. After advancing to the round of four, Northampton lost to the eventual silver medalists, slotting it in at fourth place.

The middle of the day featured both the men’s and women’s foil, with each group having similar showings for the Blue Devils. With a few wins across both sides, they each ended the day in fifth place overall.

Eighteen different schools competed at Sunday’s championships, as Northampton left its mark by proving to be a top-five program in four different events to end the season.

Northampton’s fencing program is a self-funded club sport that receives volunteer coaching from Camilla Sise and Justin Elder, from the Pioneer Valley Fencing Academy in Easthampton.

The Blue Devils will honor the team’s achievements as well as their eight graduating seniors at their upcoming end-of-season banquet.
