The Northampton boys basketball team put an end to its three-game losing streak in dramatic fashion as Jahir Sanchez executed a layup as time expired to push the Blue Devils past Ware, 41-39, on Wednesday night.

Sanchez only made one other bucket during the contest, finishing with four points, as Northampton moved to 3-4 overall after the thrilling victory.

Brayden Nichols-Stevens tallied 10 points as the Blue Devils’ highest scorer.

The Indians led, 14-4 after the first quarter, but Northampton turned it on in the next frame, outscoring the visitors 21-8, to hold a 25-22 advantage at halftime.

Hopkins 60, Mohawk 23 — Make it two wins in two days for the Golden Hawks, who breezed past the Warriors at home.

Chace Earle netted 17 points to power Hopkins (4-3), including draining four 3-pointers throughout the contest.

The Hawks took care of Mahar, 52-23, on Tuesday.

Girls basketball

Smith Academy 33, Ludlow 15 — A shaky first quarter didn’t last as the Falcons locked down on defense the rest of the night to earn their third win in a row.

The Lions led, 6-4, after the first quarter, but it was all Smith Academy from then on, with Anna Scagel’s 10 points leading the charge.

The Falcons are back at .500 with a 3-3 record.

Swimming

Easthampton 51, Turners Falls 47 (girls) — The Eagles’ relays guided them past the Thunder.

Easthampton placed first in the 200 medley relay, the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay for 18 critical points.

Northampton 88, Chicopee Comp 66 (girls) — Zadie Dole lifted the Blue Devils over the Colts at the JFK Middle School Pool.

Dole won the 100-yard free in 1:10.82, plus grabbed a third-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:47.87.

Chicopee Comp 123, Northampton 40 (boys) — A first-place finish in the 200 free from Taj Abdul-Knerr served as the highlight for the Blue Devils in the loss.

Abdul-Knerr concluded in 2:02.99 as Northampton’s only individual event winner of the dual meet.

Wrestling

Hampshire 48, SICS 24 — Four Raiders wrestlers picked up victories in the dual meet versus the Bulldogs.

Robert Zononi (126, pin) Taylan McColgan (138, pin), Harrison Farrar (215, pin) and Samuel Mathews (285, pin) earned points for Hampshire.

Franklin Tech 48, Frontier 30 — The Redhawks were nipped by the Eagles at home.

Jocelyn Antes (120, decision), Reilly Castellano (126, pin), Konnor James (157, pin), Jacoby Merrill (165, pin) and Jackson Morrey (215, pin) won their matches for Frontier.
