Reigning Division 3 120-pound state champion Jocelyn Antes had a big day for Frontier in the 2025 Phil Tomkiel Holiday Wrestling Tournament at Agawam High School on Monday. The tournament included 24 schools from Western Massachusetts.
Antes competed in the 126-pound girls bracket, winning all three of her matchups. The senior took on Walpole’s Jewlie Grace in the quarterfinals, winning 3-0.
In the semifinals, Antes faced off against Springfield Central’s Solimary Cruz-Sedan, taking another victory and moving on to the finals. In the finals, Antes matched up with the reigning Div. 2 state champion, Lauren McAteer from Walpole.
With a 3-0 win by decision, Antes completed the clean sweep, taking home first place without allowing a single point to be scored against her.
Boys basketball
PVCICS 63, Smith Voc 47 โ The Dragons put together a big, 20-point fourth quarter in their victory over the Vikings on Monday night.
Lobsang Rabten led the way with 20 points for PVCICS, with Mono Paul hitting four threes en route to a 15-point night. Grafton Tolopko rounded out the night for the Dragons with 13 points of his own.
Josh Cole tied the game-high in points with 20 for Smith Voc, with Domeniq Sanchez the only other Viking in double figures, tallying 10 points.
Ludlow 70, Smith Academy 51 โ The Falcons came up short against the Lions Monday night, with Cajun Benson and Rowan Jeffress out of the lineup.
Callan Payne led Smith Academy in scoring with 12 points on the night, with Oscar Higuera close behind, totalling 11 of his own.
Matthew Scagel hit three shots from beyond the arc, adding on a free throw for a 10-point night.
Easthampton 53, Granby 46 โ The Eagles walked away with a gritty, seven-point win on Monday, with a 20-point third quarter paving the way.
Chase Canon-Smith finished with a game-high 17 points, hitting two 3-pointers on the night.
Pat Larson tallied 12 points on four shots and four free throws, while Jay Brown made five shots from the field in his 11-point performance.
SICS 78, Hampshire 59 — The Raiders were bested for the second game in a row following the home defeat to the Bulldogs.
The visitors turned it on in the second half after taking just a three-point lead (42-39) into the halftime break. The loss moves Hampshire’s record to 2-3.
Girls basketball
East Longmeadow 56, Easthampton 29 — The Eagles fell to the Spartans in a tough game where offense was hard to come by on Monday night.
Samone Young had 12 points in the loss for Easthampton, shooting 14 free throws in the process.
Belchertown 56, Quaboag 24 — The Orioles dominated their way to a 32-point win, using great defense and a 20-point third quarter to take home the victory.
Aubrey Klingensmith caught fire from long range on Monday, hitting six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 24 points.
Central 57, Northampton 45 — The Devils’ three-game winning streak was halted at home against the Golden Eagles.
Emme Calkins scored 18 points to lead Northampton, followed with a 10-point night from Makayla Fydenkevez.
Central led, 29-23, at halftime, then pulled away in the second half to sink the Blue Devils to 4-2.

Haverhill 3, Easthampton 2 — The Eagles fell just shy of a win on Saturday night, behind a two-goal effort from Grayson Prevey-Catrambone. Tommy Bixby stopped 29 of 32 shots in net.
