Northampton, MA – Kathleen (Kathy) Burke Foley, 92, of Northampton, MA and Black Point Beach Club, Niantic, CT, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at her home in Northampton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 18, 1933, in Hartford, CT to the late John and Adelaide (Helbock) Burke. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John (Jake) Francis Foley. They were married for 49 wonderful years. She is survived by three devoted daughters and their husbands, Patty (Foley) and Jordy DeAngelis of West Hartford, CT, Suzy (Foley) and Kevin Coffey of Northampton, MA, and Kerry (Foley) and Tom Spignesi of West Hartford, CT. Known affectionately as “Gi”, she also leaves seven adoring grandchildren, Courtney (DeAngelis) and A.J. Collier, Cara DeAngelis, Michael and Anna (MacLean) Coffey, Katie (Coffey) and Peter Pasciucco, Kelly (Coffey) and James Byrne, Kathleen Spignesi and Jake Spignesi and seven very special great-grandchildren, Michael, John, Brooke, Joey, Emma, Allie and Hailey. She was predeceased by her sister Adelaide (Burke) Marciniak, her brothers, John Burke and Casper Burke, her sister-in-law Joanne (Foley) Kristek, and her brother-in-law, Paul Foley. Kathy also leaves several loving nieces and nephews.
Growing up in West Hartford, CT, Kathy attended St. Thomas the Apostle School, The Mount St. Joseph Academy, and graduated from Bay Path Junior College in Longmeadow, MA with a degree in Business Administration. After her marriage, Kathy and Jake moved to Northampton where she and her husband developed an extremely close and tight knit group of forever friends.
Kathy worked in the Northampton School System before being employed for many years in the Hampshire County Superior Court Probation Office. She also volunteered at the Northampton Senior Center.
Summering at the shore since she was a little girl, Black Point Beach Club was ingrained in her heart. It was there that she created special memories with family and friends.
Known for her love of family, friends and fun, Kathy was always ready to listen, lend a hand, and partake in many impromptu shenanigans! Her door was always open to everyone. Her heart knew no boundaries, her smile and laughter were infectious, and her compassion for others was unwavering. Kathy was beautiful in every way and has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the lives and actions of all of us.
The calling hours will be at Czelusniak Funeral Home at 173 North Street in Northampton on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The funeral mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Annunciation Church, 85 Beacon Street in Florence, immediately followed by the burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Northampton.
