GOSHEN — The town is again without a town administrator after Michael Lapinski left the spot last month for personal reasons.

It was a short-lived time in Goshen for Lapinski, who took on the position in March when he was selected to succeed Dawn Scaparotti, who was in the role for five years and stepped down in the fall of 2024.

“We were very disappointed to see him go and he was a real asset to the town during the time he was here,” said Peri Hall, chair of the Select Board. “We will be opening a search process for a new town administrator and meanwhile we are fortunate to have our assistant Town Administrator, Trishna Amirault, who is available to coordinate requests and support day-to-day activities.”

Lapinski, who could not be reached for comment on Tuesday, is a Northampton native who has spent the last 18 years of his career in town administration for various communities. His previous posts have included the position of township manager and assistant township manager in Upper Gwynedd Township, Pennsylvania, and working in municipal government in Princeton, New Jersey.

Lapinski beat out a dozen other candidates for the position during his hiring process earlier this year. And now Goshen joins two neighboring towns, Williamsburg and Plainfield, in the search for a town administrator.
