As a veteran and longtime citizen of Easthampton I believe that Jason “JT” Tirrell
is the man for the job. He will be a mayor who moves Easthampton forward. JT
didn’t just wake up one day and decide to be mayor, and he isn’t riding the
coattails of a previous divisive administration — he’s been preparing for this job his
entire life.
With JT, Easthampton will get a real mayor — one who cares about the community
and all its people. He’s approachable, savvy, a genuinely good person, and a
trustworthy leader. Few people know Easthampton better than JT and you’ll get one of
the hardest-working mayors the city has ever had. JT is one of Easthampton’s
most involved community members. In addition to his service on the City Council,
he’s a youth sports coach and mentor to so many of our next generation.
JT’s campaign has stood for unity over division and community over politics.
That’s a message we’ve never needed more than right now.
He will bring fresh ideas, transparency, accountability and accessibility to city
government at a time when so many residents feel in the dark, disconnected or
like our voices have been silenced.
JT has been clear that he will reopen City Hall on Friday. He will be a steward of
our tax dollars and invest in infrastructure, as our roads are in desperate need of
repair.
JT will prioritize seniors and veterans, and small business owners. He’s the only
candidate who has mentioned preserving Easthampton’s town-like feel and not
just building housing for the sake of building.
JT wants to keep Easthampton affordable, not just to attract new people but to
make sure those who are already here can stay here and age in place.
I think JT will be a practical and commonsense mayor. He’s not in it for money,
ego, or notoriety. He’s in it for Easthampton. That’s what Easthampton needs, a
mayor for the people — not another slick-talking politician.
