Friday’s high schools: Belchertown boys soccer wins Churchill Division

The Belchertown boys soccer team beat Agawam 6-2 on Friday to win the Churchill Division championship.

Alex DeSantis (assist) scored two goals, while Oliver Hopkins, Jack Stinson, Noah Lussier and Nick Drost (assist) each had one.

Jonathan Ingram had one assist, while Lewis Berger made three saves for the Orioles (15-2, 7-1).

Commerce 2, Smith Voke 1 — Kenny Casagrande scored an unassisted goal and Will Ingram made four saves but the Vikings (2-12-3, 3-5 Tri County North) fell at home.

Holyoke 2, Northampton 0 — Jon Brodeur made six saves for the Blue Devils (3-14-1, 3-5 Moriarty) on the road.

Girls soccer

Granby 3, Frontier Regional 1 — The Rams (14-3-1, 7-1 Pioneer North) clinched the Pioneer North title with the win over the Red Hawks (6-8-2, 2-5-1).

Haile Baran, Tara Mikalchus (assist) and Julia Gress each scored, while Brittany Hauschild made four saves for the Rams.

Emily Jansson scored, Olivia Denkiewicz had an assist and Meghan Devine made six saves for Frontier.

Smith Academy 2, Hopkins Academy 0 — The Falcons (12-4-2, 7-1 Pioneer South) eliminated the Golden Hawks (7-9-2, 3-3-2 Pioneer South) from postseason contention with the win in Hatfield.

Sabrina Sparda and Cassidy Synder each scored, while Carley Pedruzny had an assist. Brooke Pashek made four saves for the shutout.

Kate Sullivan made five saves for the Golden Hawks.

South Hadley 4, Ware 0 — Meghan Ginley had a goal and two assists on senior night as the Tigers (9-6-3) closed the regular season with the win at home.

Rachel Harrington, Sam Gawron and Caitlyn Hoschtetler also scored, while Emma Slysz and Gigi Thibault each had one assist.

Abby Lukasik made six saves for the shutout.

Easthampton 1, Athol 1 — Gabby Downer score din the 28th minute of the second half as the Eagles (11-1-3) pulled out the tie.

Jen Szafir had an assist, while Alyssa Fugiel made six saves.

Amherst Regional 2, Cathedral 1 — Sage DeChiara and Emma Robson each scored, while Sophie Marciano and Hadie Wilder each had an assist for the Hurricanes (9-5-4, 3-3-2 Central).

Becca Carkhuff made one save in the win.

Gateway Regional 2, Holyoke Catholic 2 — The Gators (10-3-4, 3-1-3 Pioneer South) took the lead twice, but the Gaels (8-6-4, 2-3-3) answered each time for the tie in Huntington.

Jessica Van Heynigen and Ali Fisk each scored for Gateway, while Kendall Rooney had one assist and Sarah Otterbeck made one save.

Danielle Easton (assist) and Lexi Neffinger each scored for Holyoke Catholic, while Mary Roberge had an assist.

Katie Klejna made four saves for Catholic.

Hampshire 2, Monson 2 — The Raiders (12-1-3, 6-1-1 Grieve) and Mustangs settled as co-champs of the Grieve with the tie in Westhampton.

Vanessa Grober and Savannah Waters each scored, while Liz Hotham had an assist for Hampshire.

Kayla Labrecque (six saves) and Madison Boucher (four saves) split time in net for the Raiders.

Field hockey

Smith Academy 6, Athol 0 — The Falcons (12-5-1, 9-1 North) shutout the Red Raiders to clinch a share of the North Division championship with Frontier.

Kelly Ryan, Lauren Grondin, Paxton Watson, Olivia Cavanaugh, and sisters Isabelle and Danielle Duseau each had one goal.

Danielle Duseau had two assists, while Jen Adamites had one.

Lauren Bradford made one save for a shutout.

Girls volleyball

Pioneer 3, Smith Voke 2 — The Vikings (0-17) fell 25-21, 7-25, 4-25, 25-23 and 5-15 on the road.

Bailee Richardson had seven assists, two kills, one ace and four digs. Shelby Cormier had three digs and four assists, while Tia Messeck had seven kills for the Vikings.

Frontier Regional 3, Hopkinton 2 — Sarah Woodward contributed 29 kills and 13 digs, while sister Emily Woodward complied 52 assists as the Red hawks (15-3) won 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24, 15-8 on the road.

Cassidy Ciesluk had 16 kills and 17 digs. Remi Quesnelle had 10 kills.

Ware 3, Belchertown 1 — The Orioles (5-13) fell 25-20, 13-25, 20-25 and 11-25 on the road.
