Tuesday’s colleges: Diana Banmann lifts Mount Holyoke field past No. 11 Amherst in OT
Diana Banmann scored all three goals, including the overtime game-winner as the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team a 3-2 upset victory over No. 11 Amherst College at home Tuesday night.
Banmann scored the winner 1 minutes, 49 seconds into the extra frame off a rebound on a Kisten Kilburn shot that Jeffs keeper Rachel Tannenbaum (three save) turned away.
Sarah Laguerre was credited with an assist in the win.
Katie Paolano scored both goals for Amherst (0-2), while Krista Zsitvay and Sara Culhane had one assist each.
Liz Dicesare made 10 saves for the Lyons (4-0).
Mount Holyoke 3, MCLA 1 — Martina Kneifel had 18 kills and 20 digs as the Lyons improved to 6-0 with the win in North Adams.
Emerson 3, Amherst College 1 — Nicole Gould had 10 kills and six digs, but the Jeffs (2-3) lost on the road.
Katie Warshaw (18) and Nicole Carter (14) combined for 32 digs, while Carter added 25 assists.
Western New England 3, WPI 0 — Kendra Ouimette of Conway had five digs as the Golden Bears swept the Engineers in Worcester.
