Locals Mickey Werenski (15th), Sean Gaudette (43rd), Jim Hosey (48th) make cut at New England Amateur Championship

Three players representing Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley qualified for the final day of the New England Amateur Golf Championship in Killington, Vt.

Mickey Werenski, Sean Gaudette and Jim Hosey were each among the 60 lowest scorers after the first two days of play and advances to Thursday’s third-round action.

After shooting a 69 on day one and finishing tied for ninth, South Hadley native Werenski, a posted a 75 on Wednesday and currently sits tied for 15th. He is at plus-2 and 10 strokes off the leader.

Werenski ran into trouble early in the round. He bogeyed three of the first nine holes, bringing his total score up to +1. He birdied the first hole of the back nine, and birdied again on the eighth. It was a triple bogey on the fourth hole, however, that hiked up his overall score.

Sean Gaudette had a 72 in his first day of the event, but didn’t enjoy the same success on day two and finished with a 78.

Gaudette started his second day by bogeying his first hole. His front nine didn’t get much better after that. While Gaudette hit his only birdie of the day on the sixth hole, he hit two double bogeys and had three total bogeys on the day. Gaudette finished day two in a tie for 43rd place.

Jim Hosey’s day-two story was different. After shooting a 78 in round one, Hosey finished with a 73 on Wednesday to move into 48th and qualify for Thursday’s final round. He started off the front nine with three bogeys, but finished strong with three birdies on the back nine.

Gaudette will tee off at Thursday morning at 8:10, followed by Werenski (8:20) and then Hosey (8:30).
