UMass baseball sweeps doubleheader from Temple
A pair of sophomores and hot bats carried the University of Massachusetts baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Temple in Ambler, Pa. Friday.
Conor LeBlanc earned the win in Game 1, which the Minutemen won 4-3. LeBlanc struck out three and worked around six hits over seven innings.
Andrew Grant won the second game 6-3 for UMass. Grant fanned five, walked one and allowed eight hits over six innings.
The Minutemen (13-31, 6-17 Atlantic 10) had 26 hits combined in the doubleheader.
Jeff Cavanaro (RBI) went 3-for-4, while Nik Campero and John Jennings each had two hits in Game 1.
UMass had 16 hits in Game 2.
Dylan Begin had three, while Ryan Cusick, Rich Graef, Rob McLam (two RBIs, two runs), Campero, Kellen Pagel and Cavanaro (two RBIs) each had two.
Jordan Pace earned the saves in both games.
