Katy Eiseman: Local organizations deserve special mention
To the editor:
Thank you for drawing attention to the services of the Hilltown Village with your recent front-page coverage (Sept. 25).
I would like to point out a connection to another front-page story from that day: This summer, we began receiving funding from the United Way of Hampshire County, through a grant administered by the Hilltown Community Health Centers. This collaboration with the Health Centers also includes the Cummington Family Center, and represents one of the many ways the United Way is “Advancing the Common Good in Hampshire County”.
Meanwhile, in Franklin County, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ashfield has provided us funding to launch mothers’ support groups run by trained MotherWoman facilitators. Our supporters are too many to list here, but these organizations deserve special mention for the sustaining strength they provide to small grassroots efforts such as ours.
