Praise for president’s  actions in Middle East

To the editor:

A recent letter, “Fallout seen from Bin Laden killing,” tries to lay the blame for Middle East unrest on President Obama. Truly? I’ve got to say, are you kidding?

Middle East unrest has existed for centuries. Certainly there has been more instability since we entered Iraq. George Bush senior knew that taking down Saddam Hussein would create immense instability in the region. His son unfortunately did not have that insight.

The logic that killing Osama bin Laden has created the turmoil in the Middle East is simply false and ignores historical fact. The recent unrest and increased in violence is related to an anti-Muslim movie as much as it is to a deep hatred of America’s history of manipulating politics in the Middle East.

Kudos to President Obama for having the courage to take down someone who masterminded the killing of thousands of Americans. He does not believe we must be passive in the face of terrorism and hope they won’t hurt us again.
