Wide receivers
The Lawrence Eagle Tribune has a feature on Warren Wilson. Wilson had a terrific spring game for UMass. He's likely behind Jeremy Horne, Victor Cruz and Joe Sanford on the depth chart. He'll compete with Julian Talley to be the No. 4 wide receiver.
Speaking of wide receivers, the features I did Friday and Saturday on Joe Sanford and Victor Cruz were originally going to be part of one story on the wideouts. But I liked the stories of Sanford and Cruz enough on their own. But it left out some interesting elements of the story. One of which was Jeremy Horne, who is the most experienced receiver on the team. I'm assuming I'll be writing more about him later.
The other was a few things from Liam Coen.
He said he's taking it on himself to make the receivers good. He looks at their success as his responsibility. He also said in practice he'll sometimes throw a pass off line intentionally to test what each of the receivers is capable.
"These guys are violent when they want to go up and get a ball," Coen said, with a tone of admiration in his voice.
He predicted big things for Talley.
...six days til UMass-Albany...
