Mack Hale, son of James and Susan Hale of Florence, has been appointed to the Junior Advisory Board of the Chad Foundation. The Chad Foundation for Athletes and Artists is a nonprofit organization with the primary goal of promoting early diagnosis of heart disease and heart muscle abnormalities in order to prevent sudden heart failure. Hale, a senior at Northampton High School, held a fundraiser last month for the Chad Foundation and is planning a heart screening for his classmates in March 2013.


Alison Cherrington of Pelham was inducted into the Oracle Honor Society at Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. Cherrington is majoring in piano performance/music education in the college’s School of Music.


Trevor Byrne, son of Linda Stone and Eric Byrne of Worthington, attended the American Film Institute Film Festival in Los Angeles for the screening of his short film “See You Then, Then,” an official selection of the festival. Byrne is a 2002 graduate of Northampton High School and 2006 graduate of Emerson College, and is currently attending Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., where he is earning a master’s degree in film.
