Mark Perez of Springfield faces arraignment on charges resulting from fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Westfield woman
SPRINGFIELD (AP) — A Springfield man charged with killing a woman in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend is headed to court.
Mark Perez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on a variety of charges in connection with the crash Saturday morning that took the life of a 55-year-old Jeanne McLain of Westfield. McLain was a passenger in car driven by Dennis O’Connor, who survived.
In addition to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, the 25-year-old Perez faces car theft and drug charges. Police say the SUV Perez was driving was stolen, and when they followed a trail of auto fluids and parts to his home, they uncovered large amounts of cocaine and marijuana and packaging materials commonly used by drug dealers.
Two others are also facing drug charges.
