Weekend college sports: Kiana Lussier of South Hadley nets equalizer for Mount Holyoke women’s soccer
Kiana Lussier of South Hadley scored a goal late in the first half as the Mount Holyoke College women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Nichols College at home Saturday.
Hannah Yee of Amherst earned the assist when she sent a through ball that allowed Lussier to outrun a defender and beat the goalkeeper for the score.
Mackenzie Randall had six saves for MHC.
Army 2, UMass 0 — Danielle Kriscenski made two saves for the Minutewomen (0-3-0) in their loss at home Sunday.
Central Connecticut State 3, Binghamton 0 — Cassidy Stankowski of Deerfield had six kills, eight digs and three assists as CCSU (1-2) won Saturday in Hamilton, N.Y.
Mount Holyoke 3, Bay Path 0; Mount Holyoke 3, Lyndon State 0 — The Lyons opened their season by winning six straight sets in a tri-match Saturday in Holyoke.
Athena Donta of Hadley, an Amherst Regional graduate, had a match-high 13 digs in the victory over Lyndon State.
Bradley 1, UMass 0 — Nick Ruiz made seven saves, but the Minutemen (0-1-1) couldn’t register a goal and lost in overtime Sunday in Peoria, Ill.
Tyler Davis scored the game-winner for Bradley (2-0-0) in the 95th minute.
Bradley outshot UMass 21-6 in the game.
Mount Holyoke 10, Regis 0 — Diana Banmann scored six goals as the Lyons dominated their opener at home Saturday.
Christine Ianni added two goals, while Liz DiCesare and Ally Tessier combined to face one shot on goal in the shutout.
Mount Holyoke 8, UMass-Boston 1 — The Lyons swept the doubles matches and cruised to a win in their opener at home Saturday.
