Motorcyclist loses control at Pearl Street curve in South Hadley — and other area police news

Amherst

■ Casey L. Brown, 20, of Fall River, was arrested Thursday at 12:41 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle to endanger and failure to stop or yield.

Belchertown

■ Paul Joseph Genest, 40, of Chicopee, was arrested Aug. 23 at 8:40 a.m. on Chauncey Walker Road on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

Hadley

■ Amos Girard, 32, of 71 Federal St., Florence, was arrested Tuesday at 12:05 p.m. at the Target store at the Hampshire Mall on a charge of shoplifting after he left the store without paying for packages of Red Bull valued at $89.95, police said.

Northampton

■ Eric Daniel Sadler, 22, of Westfield, was arrested about 1:58 a.m. Wednesday on Pleasant Street on charges of operating under the influence of liquor (second offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

According to police, Sadler’s vehicle was spotted on Pleasant Street “straddling” the fog line, with its hazard lights flashing, with one bare rim.

■ Jesse Adam Pratt, 38, of 129 Pleasant St. Apt. A, was arrested about 4:37 p.m. Wednesday at home on a Northampton District Court warrant related to charges of stalking, criminal harassment, intimidation of a witness, making annoying phone calls and failure to comply with conditions of probation, according to police.

■ Zacharia Trout Gorham, 40, of 1 Ireland St., West Chesterfield, was arrested about 2:37 p.m. Wednesday on near Hampton Avenue on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor (second offense) and was cited for a marked lanes violation and failure to wear a seatbelt.

South Hadley

■ Police are investigating after receiving a report at 2:52 p.m. Aug. 23 that a beer cooler was stolen from the Lady Bea tour boat at Brunelle’s Marina. Residents are asked to contact the detective bureau at 538-8231 with any information.

■ Daniel Joseph Barrepski, 31, of Ludlow, was arrested on Old Lyman Road at 11:46 a.m. Aug. 23 on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (fourth offense).

■ A 35 year-old Springfield man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle accident on Pearl Street at 9:57 p.m. Aug. 21.

The man was driving west on Pearl Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a left turn at the intersection with Hadley Street and skidded for around 200 feet before striking a wooden barricade on the side of the road, police said.

The man, whose name was not released, was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital by South Hadley Fire District 2 ambulance. The motorcycle was totaled.

■ Louis David Ortiz, 19, of Chicopee, was arrested on Bridge Street at 8:05 p.m. Aug. 21 on two Eastern Hampshire District Court warrants.

■ Luis A. Rosario, 27, of Chicopee, was arrested on Lathrop Street at 5:25 p.m. Aug. 21 on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding.

■ Diego C. Dosreis, 25, of Amherst, was arrested on Purple Heart Drive at 4:55 p.m. Aug. 20 on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a number plate violation and failing to keep right.

■ Jesus Torres, 38, of Springfield, was arrested following a traffic stop at 3:52 p.m. Aug. 19 on Newton Street on a Holyoke District Court warrant.
