SOUTH HADLEY — Roland F. Chartier, 77, died after he was struck by a private snow plow truck in the driveway of his Broad Street home Saturday around 6 p.m., officials said Wednesday.
In a statement, First Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Steven E. Gagne said that no foul play is suspected in the incident, but it is still under investigation by the South Hadley Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
A representative for the State Police declined to release details and said it would take investigators one to two weeks to complete a report on the incident.
Members of Chartier’s family declined to comment.
According to Chartier’s obituary, he grew up in Chicopee and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and camping. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, and retired from the Acme Chain Division in Holyoke.
