Jake Ross leads Northampton basketball over Chicopee

Jake Ross scored a career-high 29 points, including an insurance basket with less than 30 seconds left as the Northampton boys basketball team outlasted Chicopee 63-60 on the road Saturday.

Ross added 16 rebounds and seven steals in the victory, while Ben Christopher and Aiden Hirsch each scored eight points.

Justin Burgos contributed five assists.

The Blue Devils (5-2) trailed by one entering the fourth quarter, but Ross scored eight of the team’s 21 points in the final frame and the Pacers (3-6) missed multiple 3-point attempts in their final possession to end the game.

Hockey

Belchertown 5, Easthampton 1 — Five different players scored as the Orioles (1-5-1) won Saturday at UMass.

Tommy Daley, Jonathan Rodriquez, Adam Messier (assist), Alex Bachand (assist) and Jordan Auffrey all had a goal.

Patrick McCarthy, Ryan Dupont and Louis Tonelli were each credited with two assists.

Kyle Mikulski made 18 saves in the win.

Zach Lewis scored from Alex Zadworny for the Eagles (2-2-3). Matt Sarafin made 19 saves in the loss.

Cathedral 10, East Longmeadow 2 — John Leonard of Amherst scored two goals as the Panthers (7-1-) cruised Saturday in Springfield.

Adam Mercer of Belchertown made 16 saves in the win.

Greenfield 5, Turners Falls 3 — Trevor Peduzzi had two goals and an assist, but the Indians (4-4-1) lost Saturday in Greenfield.

Cody Booska added a goal and an assist, while Christian Sawicki and Ryan Waldron were credited with an assist each.

Will Miller made 16 saves in the loss.

Boys basketball

Williston 65, Millbrook 59 — Tyonne Malone had 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats (5-7) won Saturday at home.

Max Risch added 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Ade Adams contributed 18 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Girls basketball

Berkshire 63, Williston 36 — Natalia Ovando scored 13 points, but the Wildcats (3-3) fell Saturday in Sheffield.

Gracie Simpson of South Hadley added four points off the bench.
