∎ The Hampshire Hurricanes Model Airplane Club will hold a model airplane exposition Tuesday evening at the VFW Club. The Airplane Club invites the public to come and see the many interesting displays on aircraft.
∎ John E. Kwoka, a senior at Northampton High School, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kwoka of 23 Gleason Road.

∎ Vice President George Bush stood within reach of the Republican presidential nomination today after a sweep of Super Tuesday primaries. Meanwhile, Super Tuesday spelled disaster for Bob Dole and former television evangelist Pat Robertson who are teetering on the verge of elimination after rejection in state after state.
∎ Political analysts here and in the South agree that Gov. Michael S. Dukakis emerged as one of three leading Democratic contenders yesterday, but offered differing views on the difficulties he faces as he seeks the presidential nomination. Super Tuesday also gave Tennessee Sen. Albert Gore Jr. and Jesse L. Jackson something to cheer about.

∎ Advocates of the historic Main Building at the former Northampton State Hospital have been looking to a Hartford-based developer as their white knight. But after a four-month feasibility study into the possibility of preserving and reusing the ailing complex, Peter Shapiro has said the project comes with too high a price tag.
∎ Doctors and lawyers, farmers and carpenters all got their hair cut at Ernie’s Barber Shop on King Street. On Thursday, Ernest Paul put in his usual eight-hour day cutting hair, just as he had for 66 years. But, within five minutes of arriving at home, he died. He was 84 years old.
