Students at Northampton High School will present Georges Feydeau’s “The Lady from Maxim’s,” beginning Friday, in the school’s new Black Box Theater.

Set in the Roaring Twenties, the comedy follows perpetual worrywart Dr. Peyton, who wakes up one morning in bed with a vivacious nightclub dancer, instead of his wife. Peyton struggles to keep his devoutly religious wife from learning the truth, but doesn’t get much help from the headstrong dancer or his bachelor best friend.

“Everybody loves mistaken identities, close misses, slaps, trips and kisses, so I know everybody will love “The Lady from Maxim’s,’ ” said the play’s director, NHS senior Ana Baustin.

Shows are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m., and Feb. 13, 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10; $5 for students and seniors. To reserve, send an email to theladyfrommaxims@gmail.com.
