New GazetteNET remains free as fixes continue

The redesigned site is now available on smartphones, iPads and tablet devices.

We plan this fall to change our online subscription plan — but not until all features we expect on our website are working properly.

The site does not always load or refresh as quickly as we expect; reader commenting is not yet available on all stories; photos cannot be ordered online; and more work is needed to display our content properly on smartphones.

These are all bugs being worked out with our technology partners. We are also making adjustments based on user comments.

Improvements to the site include better presentation of local news, sports and features, more live, breaking news, more photos, the ability to find stories by community name and a searchable events calendar.

In coming days, we will have GazetteNET running more efficiently and serving our audience’s interests and needs. We urge anyone having access issues to call us at 584-5000.

New All-Access contest

This week we announced a Gazette All-Access subscription contest. Gazette All-Access is the plan that gives home-delivery subscribers full access to all of our digital offerings as part of their print subscriptions.

Details are in ads appearing this week.

Later this month, online readers who are not also print subscribers, will be asked to register to read up to five local news articles each month at no charge or pay for unlimited access to online content.

There will be a variety of pricing options for digital-only subscribers. More about this can be found at www.gazettenet.com.

We encourage feedback as we test drive the new website and make adjustments and improvements. Let us know what you think and what you would like to see on GazetteNET.com. Email me at publisher@gazettenet.com.

In the meantime, thanks very much for your patience and support.
