Tuesday’s high schools: Granby baseball walks off with win over Franklin Tech

Brett Sullivan saved the Granby baseball team in the eighth inning.

Sullivan hit a walk-off RBI single to right field to score Noah Parent as the Rams beat Franklin Tech 2-1 in Granby Tuesday.

Andy Gifford struck out eight and allowed seven hits in the complete-game win for Granby (2-2, 1-0 Tri-County North).

Putnam 21, Smith Vocational 0 (5) — Matthew Torres struck out 10 and no-hit the Vikings (0-2, 0-1 Tri-County South), who committed nine errors in the loss.

Smith Academy 10, Pathfinder 2 — The Falcons (4-0, 1-0 Tri-County North) scored five runs on seven hits in the first inning and never looked back, blowing out the Pioneers (2-1, 0-1).

Cameron Woodward and Harry Kennedy (run) each had two hits and two RBIs, while David Longstreeth struck out 12 in six innings for the win.

Softball

Chicopee 14, Amherst Regional 5 — The Hurricanes (0-3) had four of their five runs and six of their eight hits in the final two innings, but it was too late at Community Field.

Becca Carkhuff went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, while Jazzy Moonstone led off the seventh inning with a solo home run to left-center field.

Westfield 10, Belchertown 1 — Sarah Woodcock drove in Erinne Dull in the fourth for the lone run as the Orioles (3-1) suffered their first loss at home.

Dull went 2-for-3 and Téa Spellacy also had a pair of hits. Samantha Manitsas struck out four in a complete-game defeat.

Smith Vocational 11, Franklin 2 — Maddie Spencer-Orrell allowed three hits over seven innings while striking out 16 for the win. She helped her own cause with a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Kelly Lampron (2-for-2, two runs, two RBIs) and Fawn Mougin (RBI, two runs) also played well for the Vikings (2-1, 2-1 Tri-County).

Boys lacrosse

Northampton 16, St. Mary’s 1 — Will Lombardi (assist) and Alex Zadworny (two assists) each had four goals as the Blue Devils (3-0) cruised past the second-year program in Westfield.

Cody Malone (three assists) and Michael Rodriguez each added two goals, while Ben Davis (assist), Jack Shaughnessy, Jake Ross and Duncan Peterson each had one goal.

Andrew Fleming, Peter Higgins, Jared Yarde and Nick Pellegrino each had one assist.

Tyler Walsh made three saves in the win.

South Hadley 17, Cathedral 3 — Evan Marcus had nine points as the Tigers (5-0) cruised at Springfield College.

Marcus had three goals and six assists for South Hadley, while Tom Dowd (two assists) and Tom Crotty scored three goals each as well.

TJ Fitzell (two assists), Ryan Dickinson (one assist) and Sam Duda added two goal each, while Griffin Fitzell and Connor Quinn had one apiece.

Jordan Brunelle dished out a pair of assists.

Justin Pontz had four saves.

West Springfield 18, Holyoke Catholic 2 — Brendan Lavallee and Joey McCoy each scored for the Gaels (1-2) in the road loss.

Matthew Warbington made 15 saves for Catholic.

Girls lacrosse

Northampton 14, Cathedral 5 — Freshman Sophie Melcher scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Blue Devils (3-2) to the road win.

Kerry Fleming had a goal and assisted three times for Hamp, while Molly King and Emily Poehlein each had a pair of tallies. Haley Subocz, Grace Goodwin-Boyd, Missie Maiewski, Kristina Ramsden, Hunter Zackaricz and Allison McFadden added a goal apiece.

Shannon Keefe picked up a pair of assists in the win, with Marissa Pellegrino and Leila Kouakou assisting once.

Bridget Harrington (three saves) and Dana Dufour (two saves) split time in net.

Agawam 15, Belchertown 3 — Tiffany Anderson, Emma Jopson and Jackie Soucia each scored a goal for the Orioles (2-3) in the road loss.

Abbey Norden made six saves.

Boys ultimate

Amherst Regional 15, Longmeadow 8 — Solomon McMahon scored two goals and had two assists as the Hurricanes (2-0) won their home opener.

Johann Becker had two goals and an assist, while Gabe Kaufman notched four assists.
