Kindergarten registration set for this month in Granby
Registration for children entering kindergarten in the Granby Public Schools for the school year 2013-2014 will take place at the West Street School on Feb. 26, 27 and 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2013, to be eligible for kindergarten admittance. Parents should bring the following information with them to registration:
∎ Proof of residency, such as an excise tax form or utility bill showing current address, and a parent’s driver’s license.
∎ A certified copy of birth certificate. A copy of the birth record from the hospital is not a certified birth certificate and will not be accepted.
∎ Development history, such as when child sat or walked alone, crawled, said single words and so on
∎ Current immunization records.
∎ An up-to-date physical exam form is required upon entry and results of the exam must be turned into the nurse’s office by the first day of school. This physical form will be given to you at the time of registration. All children entering kindergarten must be immunized to meet the requirements of the Massachusetts School Immunization Law. Children not properly immunized will be excluded from school until parents provide proof of immunization.
If your child is currently attending the Granby Pre-School at the West Street School, it is still necessary to register your child at this time for kindergarten. Please be advised that it is not necessary for your child to accompany you to registration.
At the time of registration you will be asked to choose a time to come in for kindergarten orientation, which will take place on May 23. The scheduled times will be 9, 10 and 11 a.m. You must bring your child to kindergarten orientation, which will last about an hour.
