Wednesday’s prep schools: Williston girls swim past Westminster

The Williston girls swimming team won all but one event in an 89-56 win over Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn., Wednesday.

The Wildcats had three athletes win two events each.

Natalie Aquardo of Northampton was first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Lindsay Richardson of Sunderland was victorious in the 50 free and 100 free, while Ashley Fitch of Conway won the 200 free and 500 free.

Maddy Stern of Northampton (100 backstroke) and Sam Frye (100 butterfly) also swam to one win each.

Boys swimming

Westminster 93, Williston 85 — David Fitch of Conway won the 500 freestyle, but the Wildcats came up short in Simsbury, Conn.

Calvin Frye (200 free) and Wilder Denholm (100 free) also earned first-place finishes.

Boys basketball

Canterbury 85, Williston 76 — Freshman Tyronne Malone scored 33 points and had 11 rebounds, but the Wildcats (6-9) fell at home.

Max Risch added 14 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

Girls basketball

Williston 52, Westminster 41 — Natalia Ovando scored a game-high 25 points as the Wildcats (5-6) earned the win at home.

Sarah Marion of Granby added 12 points for Williston.

Girls hockey

Williston 1, Westminster 0 — Maddy Jerolman scored her first goal of the season as the Wildcats (7-4) handed Westminster (12-1) its first loss of the season at home.

Alex Starzyk assisted on the second-period tally, which came with 14:41 remaining.

Sydney Belinskas made 22 saves in the shutout, which extended the team’s winning streak to five.

Boys skiing

Deerfield Academy earned first place in the Mt. Institute Ski League Race as Dylan Alvarez and Peter Stobierski took home the top two individual spots.

Madison Baker (sixth) and Sam Armstrong (seventh) also finished in the top 10.

Girls skiing

Deerfield Academy’s Lauren Stobierski was the top individual finisher and the team was second overall in the Mt. Institute Ski League Race.

Signe Ahl placed eighth for DA.

Boys squash

Berkshire 5, Williston 2 — David Fay of South Hadley and Oliver Demers of Easthampton were the two winners for the Wildcats (3-5) in the loss in Sheffield.
