Monday high schools: Belchertown boys soccer enters postseason on 12-game win streak

The Belchertown boys soccer team will enter the postseason on a 12-game winning streak after a 3-0 home victory over Monument Mountain on Monday to wrap up the regular season.

William Aldrich, Nick Drost and Sam Stroman each scored for the Churchill League champion Orioles (16-2-0).

Cam Messier had two assists, while Chris Noga added one.

Lewis Berger made three saves in the shutout.

Frontier Regional 6, Greenfield 0 — Chad Parent posted four points (two goals, two assists) to lead the Red Hawks (7-8-2), who concluded their season with a home win.

Senior Niko Ames had a goal and an assist in his final high school game. Dylan Landry, Andy Habel and Connor Hamilton also scored for Frontier, with Noah Barnes adding an assist.

Dylan Husted finished with two saves for the Red Hawks.

Gateway Regional 3, Granby 2 — Calvin Dowers scored the eventual game winner on a penalty kick for the Gators (12-4-2, 5-1-2 McGrath South) on senior night.

Randy Garfield and Curtis Dowers each added a goal for Gateway, while Nick McClafflin and Denver Yost assisted once apiece.

Mike Arel (four saves) and Spencer Rock (three) teamed up for the win. Eli Jameson and Justin Edinger played solid games.

Joe Desormier and Noah Parent tallied for the Rams (6-10-2, 0-7-1), with Robert Cavette picking up an assist. Brett Sullivan stopped nine shots.

It was the final game for Granby seniors Parent, Zach Funk, Malcom Muguku, Theodore Robert and Tim BaiRossi.

Easthampton 1, Wahconah Regional 1 — Dominic Lasczkowski scored in the 50th minute, and the Eagles (1-13-2) closed out their season with the road draw.

Brady Parker played well for Easthampton, making 15 saves.

It was the final game for 12 Easthampton seniors: Dan Brandt, Tristan Koopman, Zack Lewis, Tom Palaschak, Alex Reynolds, Tyler Sudnick, Nick Aubrey, Sam Gigas, Austin Fleury, Tyler Hunt, Darrin Kim and Ryan Revaz.

West Springfield 1, Hampshire Regional 0 — Ben Preston made 11 saves, but the Raiders (9-1-6) were unable to complete an unbeaten regular season on the road.

Girls soccer

Palmer 4, Frontier Regional 2 — The Red Hawks (6-9-2) led early, but allowed three second-half goals to end their season with a road loss.

Kara Felton and Kathryn Byrnes scored for Frontier, while Elaine LaBarbera and Amanda Calvo added assists.

Meghan Devine finished with eight saves for the Red Hawks.

It was the final game for Frontier seniors Calvo, Devine and Emily Jansson.

Girls volleyball

Agawam 3, Amherst Regional 2 — The Hurricanes (10-6, 6-2 Eastern) dropped the last three games and lost on the road, 15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-12.

Christina Vasiliadis had 22 kills for Amherst, while Justine Bohl had 42 assists and 17 digs. Cassie Long had 38 digs and Paige Darby also added six blocks and two kills.

Correction

Jake Bradway returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown in the Belchertown football team’s 46-6 loss to Ludlow Friday. Bradway was misidentified in the Weekend Gazette.
