Man allegedly steals $250 worth of shrimp

Evan Briand, who police said lives on the streets of Northampton, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at Stop & Shop on King Street on a charge of larceny over $250, as well as on two warrants.

Police said Briand was caught trying to leave the grocery store with 10 bags of frozen shrimp worth $250.78. Briand told officers that he planned to sell the shrimp at a bodega in Holyoke, Sgt. Alan Borowski said. Briand is scheduled to be arraigned in court today.



■ A 20-year-old Amherst man will be summoned to court on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and allowing the improper use of a motor vehicle after he accompanied a 15-year-old girl driving a vehicle that struck another vehicle at the intersection of Mill Lane and West Street and then fled Monday at 5:30 p.m., police said.

The girl will also be summoned to court on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.


■ Robert B. Chapman, 19, of 30 Everett St., was arrested at home Tuesday at 8:35 a.m. on charges of malicious destruction of property over $250 and intimidation of a witness. Police said he got into an argument with his mother, dented her car and grabbed a phone from her when she tried to call police.

■ Police received a report Tuesday at 7 a.m. that someone had spray painted graffiti on the city’s pumping station on Lovefield Street.

■ April H. Lemon, 25, of 24 Gaston St., was arrested at home May 11 at 5:06 a.m. on a charge of assault and battery after she allegedly slapped her boyfriend’s face.

■ Jeffrey P. Sparks, 24, of 3 Maple St., was arrested at Berry Plastics on O’Neill St. May 6 at 12:50 p.m. on a charge of assault and battery after allegedly grabbing his girlfriend’s face and scratching it.


■ Connor Scott Thornton, 17, of 92 Henry St., Amherst, was arrested Tuesday at 2:37 p.m. on Rocky Hill Road on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and larceny over $250.


■ Derick Alexander Maza, 29, of Lawrence, was arrested about 9:36 p.m. Tuesday near at Pleasant and Pearl streets on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

■ Lucas Anthony Litchfield, 22, of 3 Kingsley Ave. Apt. A, was arrested about 4:03 p.m. Tuesday on a Boulder, Colo., probation warrant, police said.
