Monday’s high school softball: Easthampton pulls away from Ware

The Easthampton softball team used a four-run fourth inning to pull away from Ware for an 8-4 road victory Monday.

Sydney Slattery went 3-for-3 with two runs scored the Eagles (6-2, 3-0 Bi-County West). Ashley Reardon (three runs), Haley McFarland (two RBIs) and Molly Cabana (RBI) each had a hit.

Caelin Mottor had nine strikeouts and no walks in the complete-game victory.

Northampton 12, Ludlow 0 (6) — Maya Kerstetter hit a two-run home run as part of a four-RBI day in leading the Blue Devils (8-2) to a home rout.

It was the first Northampton homer over the fence installed this season. Kerstetter, Emilie Baldwin (three RBIs, two runs) and Mary Greco (three runs, RBI) all went 3-for-4.

Greco struck out eight in a complete-game three-hit shutout.

Hampshire 12, Greenfield 0 (6) — Ashlee McGan struck out 11, walked one and allowed a single in the second and third as the Raiders (8-0) won in Westhampton.

Savannah Waters (RBI), Chelsea Moussette (two RBIs), McGan, Lilly West (two RBIs) and Danielle McGan (RBI) each had two hits in the shutout.

Holyoke Catholic 14, Putnam 4 — Megan Logan struck out 16 in a complete-game three-hitter and cracked a two-run home run as the Gaels (5-5) cruised on the road.

Logan scored three times and drove in a pair. Krista Jasak went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Sidney Brosseau was 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run, while Shannon O’Driscoll had two hits and knocked in three.

Central 23, Smith Vocational 3 (5) — The Golden Eagles scored 11 times in the first inning and the Vikings couldn’t recover at home in a mercy-rule shortened five-inning game.

Riley Lacaprucia (RBI) had three hits for Smith, while Maddie Spencer-Orrell (run) had two hits and Alice Kubacki doubled and scored.

Athol 4, Frontier Regional 3 — Caitlyn Sullivan had two hits and two RBIs, but the Red Hawks (6-3, 6-3 Franklin) fell by a run on the road.

Krystel Enko added a hit and an RBI. Sarah Toomey (triple), Amanda Robinson and Cassidy Stankowski added a hit apiece.

Enko struck out five and walked one in a complete-game loss.

Chicopee Comp 4, Amherst 3 — The Hurricanes (2-7) stranded nine base runners in a loss to the Colts (3-8).

Jazzie Moonstone (3-for-4), Cassie Long (2-for-4, RBI) and Becca Carkhuff (3-for-4, RBI) each scored for Amherst.

Hopkins 11, Mahar 6 — Savannah Ring (three hits, two RBIs), Allison Butterfield (three hits, two RBIs), Josyln Beaulieu (three runs, two hits, RBI) and Kira Michalak (two hits, three runs) all had excellent outings as the Golden Hawks (3-5, 3-5 Franklin) beat the Senators (2-7, 0-7 Franklin).

Allie LeClair had eight strikeouts in the victory.

East Longmeadow 4, South Hadley 3 (9) — The Tigers (2-6) allowed a squeeze bunt in the last of the ninth in the road loss.

Maddi Kelleher struck out six over 81∕3 innings, but let the eventual winning run get on base and took the loss.

Tess Gauthier led South Hadley with three hits. Delaney Duprat had a pair of hits, while Abby Lukasik (RBI), Kelleher, Cassandra McClaflin and Lexi Gawron added a hit each.
