Hampshire County home sales off slightly in November
Sales of single-family homes in Hampshire County declined slightly in November compared to the same month in 2011, from 87 to 82, according to the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley.
The average sale price declined from $283,920 to $279,726 in November, compared to last year, while the median sale price inched up from $259,000 to $260,000, according to the association.
Real estate sales in Franklin County were more vigorous, jumping from 36 in November of 2011 to 52 last month. But more of these sales were of less expensive houses, as the average sale price declined from $208,186 to $179,538 and the median price from $201,500 to $160,000, according to the association.
In the entire Pioneer Valley, the number of homes for sale dropped 7.4 percent, from 2,763 listings in November 2011 to 2,559 at the end of last month. The median sale price in the three-county region of $178,000 was 11 percent below what it was in November 2005, according to the association.
