Area police news


∎ Michael David Brandford, 44, of 129 Pleasant St., Northampton, was arrested Saturday at 5:05 a.m. at Colonial Village, 81 Belchertown Road, on a charge of intimidating a witness after he threatened a woman, police said.

∎ Cameron M. Larochelle, 22, of Pittsfield, was arrested Saturday at 12:51 a.m. on Northampton Road on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

∎ A 15-year-old Turners Falls girl was arrested Friday at 11:42 a.m. at a South Amherst location on a warrant.


∎ Ahmed Ziad, 21, of Norwell, was arrested Sunday at 2:21 a.m. on charges of operating a motor vehicle to endanger and failure to stop for police.


∎ James A. Kusekoski, 32, of 3 Sutton Place, was arrested at home Friday at 7:16 p.m. on a charge of domestic assault and battery after he allegedly sat on his sister’s chest, causing her to have trouble breathing.

∎ Roger M. Schroeder, 52, of 222 Belchertown Road, Amherst, was arrested Friday at 4:33 p.m. at 11 Boylston St. on a charge of trespassing.


∎ Jeffrey Poirier, 27, of West Street, Hatfield, was arrested Sunday on charges of shoplifting by concealment after police said employees at Wal-Mart on North King Street observed him leaving the store’s garden department with a water filter hidden in his clothing and food items worth a total of $50.


■ Joshua A. Staples, 23, of 57.5 Clark St., Easthampton, was arrested on Pequot Road Sunday at 4:15 a.m. on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

■ Michael Peters, 32, of 117 Strong Road, was arrested at home Friday just after 8 p.m. on a charge of assault and battery on a person over 60 after he allegedly head-butted his father, who also lives in the house.
