No foul play in death in Amherst College dorm, officials say
AMHERST — Officers from both the Amherst and Amherst College police departments responded to a campus dormitory where a person was found dead Wednesday morning.
Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, said Thursday that the death was not suspicious and that it was not a student who died.
“It’s not suspicious, not foul play, not a student and not in public,” Carey said.
The body, reportedly of an Amherst College employee, was discovered in James Hall, a dormitory on the quadrangle.
College spokesman Caroline Hanna declined to comment, referring questions to the district attorney’s office.
