Environmental group backs Andrews in legislative race
The Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters has endorsed Rep. Denise Andrews in her bid for re-election in the 2nd Franklin District.
“Denise Andrews understands that ours is not just a fight to save the Commonwealth’s natural resources,” said the organization, which endorses candidates from both parties whom it expects will work together for passage of environmental bills.
“These are fights to save the neighborhoods where we live, the open spaces where we recreate, the waterways, coasts and ocean where we work and play, and the health of citizens suffering from pollutants.”
Andrews, an Orange Democrat who is seeking a second term, said, “Some of our nation’s oldest and strongest environmental laws and programs were crafted and passed in Massachusetts. These laws ensure that businesses, towns and citizens all do their fair share to be good stewards of our environment and balance progress with preservation. I am proud to continue this legacy and will continue to support bills and work that balance progress and preservation and that make our environment and our health a priority.”
The 2nd Franklin District includes Precinct A in Belchertown. Andrews is opposed in the Nov. 6 election by Republican Suzanne Whipps Lee of Athol and independent Richard F. Schober Jr. of Templeton.
