Jazzy Moonstone had three hits, scored three runs and knocked in a pair as the Amherst Metro softball team went on the road to hand Northampton its first loss of the season by a 7-0 score Tuesday evening.

Allie LaClair allowed only three hits in the first six innings for Amherst (6-6-1). She struck out 10 with no walks. Aliya Bartmon struck out two in the seventh and added an RBI single.

Ally Hamelin (RBI double) had two hits with a run scored.

Madeline Spencer-Orrell threw a complete game for Northampton (12-1-1), striking out 12 and walking three while allowing only four hits.

Kait Kochopski, Rachel Sheehan and Spencer-Orrell each had a single for Northampton.

Easthampton 15, West Springfield 5 — Rachel Connell enjoyed a perfect game at the plate in leading Easthampton (10-2) to the home victory.

Connell went 3-for-3 with an RBI, four runs scored and five stolen bases. Kayla McFarland (three runs, two RBIs) and Alyssa Jasak (three RBIs, one run) had two hits apiece.

Lauren Grondin scattered 11 hits and struck out two in the win.

American Legion

King & Cushman 16, Belchertown 0 — Sam Walker pitched a four-hit shutout as Northampton Post 28 (8-10) won on the road.

Walker had five strikeouts and didn’t walk a single batter over seven innings.

Zach Goodwin-Boyd helped King & Cushman jump out to an early 7-0 lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. Dan Musante and RJ Ramsden had two hits each, with both contributing an RBI.

Branden Cavanaugh had two hits for Belchertown Post 239 (0-18).

Mickey Mantle

Northampton 26, Athol 1 (5) — Northampton (11-3-1) scored 20 runs in the first two innings and rolled to a home win.

Steve Joyce doubled, tripled and drove in five runs. Hunter Salem and Kyle Warren each knocked in three runs as 10 Hamp hitters had two hits each.

Salem fired a complete-game three-hitter.
