Zach Hart, left, and Graham Glaser of Hadley kept warm walking the streets of Northampton on a recent wintry day in their wool sweaters. Sporting similar knit sweaters and fitted pants, the two Hampshire College students say they are all about being comfortable, and getting more bang for the buck.

Sweater enthusiasts:

Hart: I’m a wool fanatic. I have wool pants; they keep you warm. My mom is knitting me a sweater; actually I used to knit too.

Glaser: I have a plethora of sweaters.

Hart’s shoes: I bought these in New York City like five years ago at Bloomingdale’s. I like Jim Morrison a lot and I decided I wanted some Jim boots. These were the closest I could find. I like to wear drumming friendly shoes.

Where to Shop and Save: Glaser: The Salvation Army or Savers in Springfield, that’s a great one!

Collector of Coats: Glaser: I have trench coats like you wouldn’t believe. I just like to have a variety, and if they’re cheap I don’t feel bad about it.

Advice for Buyers on a Budget:

Hart: These are my friend’s sunglasses. She found them in a free basket in the dorms at Hampshire.

Glaser: Don’t pay for clothes, find them or take them from your parents. This is my Dad’s sweater. Or my grandfather’s.
