Valley Views: Local photographers aim their cameras outdoors

Main Street, Northfield

Photograph and text by Carol Pike of Northfield

In early spring, petasitis looks like sweet little bouquets of yellow flowers, trailing down to the water’s edge. By midsummer, these plants will be more than three feet tall with enormous leaves and the common name of elephant ears. This image was captured near Main Street with muddy knees and a wide angle lens mounted on a DSLR camera.

Carol Pike is affiliated with the Robert Floyd Photo Gallery, 2 East St., Southampton. Other nature images are on view there Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m.
