UMass plans memorial service for former chancellor Randolph Bromery
AMHERST — The University of Massachusetts Amherst will celebrate the life of the late former chancellor Randolph W. Bromery on May 17 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center on the 11th floor of the Campus Center.
The memorial event will be hosted by UMass Amherst Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy.
Bromery, chancellor of the Amherst campus from 1971 to 1979 and commonwealth professor emeritus of geophysics, died Feb. 26 at the age of 87.
After retiring from UMass, Bromery served as interim president of Westfield State College, chancellor of the state Board of Regents for Higher Education, president of Springfield College and president of Roxbury Community College.
