HADLEY — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man responsible for stealing a $30,000 diamond ring last week from Hannoush Jewelers in the Hampshire Mall on Route 9.

Police said the suspect entered the store on the night of Oct. 24, shortly before its 9 p.m. closing, requested to see the ring, then fled with it on foot.

The ring contains three diamonds with a total weight of 4 carats. The ring itself is 14 karat white gold.

Hadley police released surveillance photos Tuesday. In a description given to police, a store employee reported the jewel thief was a tall, skinny, white male in his 20s. From the surveillance photos, police said he appears to have skinny sideburns and possibly a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Anyone with information related to the case should contact Hadley Police Officer Jesse Green at 584-0883.
