Florence man arrested on second drunk driving charge, other charges after accident
NORTHAMPTON — A Florence man was arrested Saturday on a second drunken-driving charge and other charges after he allegedly caused an accident by running a red light on South Street and then left the scene.
Jimmie T. Mulholland, 57, of 135 Federal St., was arrested on Center Street at 6:55 p.m. on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), leaving the scene of property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failing to yield and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense).
According to police, a vehicle was attempting to make a left turn from South Street onto Old South Street on a green light when Mulholland’s vehicle, traveling the opposite direction on South Street, ran a red light and struck the turning vehicle. Mulholland’s vehicle then allegedly drove away with heavy front end damage and was located and stopped on Center Street.
