Hatfield man denies drug charges related to 40 marijuana plants in his home
NORTHAMPTON — A Hatfield man has denied charges of drug distribution after a dozen police searched his home and allegedly found about 40 marijuana plants earlier this year.
David J. Nunez, 45, of 127 Prospect St., pleaded not guilty Friday in Northampton District Court to charges of possessing a class D drug (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possessing a class D drug (marijuana) and possessing a class C drug (hashish).
According to court records, Northampton police applied for and were granted a search warrant for Nunez’s home on June 6.
The following day, 12 state and local police officers executed the warrant and searched the residence.
According to police, a trapdoor in a washroom led to a marijuana grow operation in the basement that contained 41 plants.
Police also found a small amount of hashish in the house during the search, according to court records.
Judge W. Michael Goggins released Nunez on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on Nov. 22 for a pre-trial hearing.
