Yitzark Kaluche of Northampton admits to charges of cocaine distribution, receives probation as part of plea deal
NORTHAMPTON — A Northampton man was sentenced to two years’ probation after pleading guilty Nov. 9 to two charges of cocaine distribution.
Yitzark Kaluche, 34, who has addresses listed in court records of 17 Harlow Ave. and 348 Old Springfield Road, initially faced two counts of cocaine trafficking.
Kaluche was sentenced to two years’ probation by Judge Mary-Lou Rup.
According to court records, Kaluche was arrested and charged after his Old Springfield Road residence was searched on May 2, 2011 on a warrant obtained as the result of an investigation into drug activity in the area. A prosecutor said previously that 35 grams of cocaine were seized there.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Agency, the FBI, Massachusetts State Police and Northampton Police, according to court files.
A conviction on a trafficking charge in Massachusetts carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 5 years in prison, with a maximum of 20.
