2 former Wal-Mart workers charged in theft

Cody Collier Slavis, 21, of 29 Barr Hill Road, Huntington, and Roberto Roldan, 22, of Palmer both pleaded not guilty to charges of larceny over $250 by a single scheme and larceny from a building in Northampton District Court Friday.

Both men were released on their own recognizance and are due back for pre-trial hearings on Nov. 5.

According to police, officers were contacted by Wal-Mart and informed Slavis and Roldan were allegedly seen on video surveillance removing thousands of dollars in electronics and other merchandise from the store.

According to store management, the pair had obtained keys that gave them access to areas of the store they were not authorized to have, court records reveal.

The items included, video game consoles and software, tablet computers, televisions, soft drink, and clothing and had an estimated combined value of about $9334, according to court records.

Police said the pair sold much of the merchandise on craigslist.org and at outlets that buy and resell used electronics, according to court files.

Northampton Police Capt. Scott Savino said the investigation remains open and more arrests in connection with the thefts may be coming.
