Weekend planner: Talk

Owners of Tea Trekker in Northampton, Bob and Mary Lou Heiss, have spent decades developing their tea connoisseurship, including seven trips to the tea fields of China in the past eight years. On Sunday they’ll be sharing their expertise at the opening reception for “Tea Talk: Ritual and Refinement in Early New England Parlors,” a new exhibit at Historic Deerfield’s Flynt Center that explores the history and culture of tea drinking in America. Following a presentation by curator Amanda Lange on the highlights of the exhibit, the Heisses will host a tea tasting while they discuss their experiences traveling and photographing the world’s tea-growing regions.

2 p.m. $15 per person includes Historic Deerfield admission. Register online for the reception at www.historic-deerfield.org or call Julie Orvis at 775-7179.
