Hampshire Regional to present ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ Oct. 25-27
NARNIA play : Hampshire Regional High School will open its drama season with a production of “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” Oct. 25-27 in the high school auditorium.
The play is based on the first of C.S. Lewis’ popular Narnia books. Produced in collaboration with local theater artists, the play will include stage combat and puppets aimed at bringing Lewis’ magical world to life. The plot revolves around siblings sent to live in the English countryside during World War II who discover a portal to another world through an old wardrobe.
The leads are: 12th graders Joey Allen as Peter, Sydney Mark as Susan, Alyssa Pierce as Aslan and Hanna Laprade as the White Witch; and 9th graders Sarah Rogers as Lucy and Collin Touchette as Edmund.
The creative team includes playwright Joseph Robinette; director Michael Braidman, who teaches English at HRHS; marketing director Lucas Fitzpatrick; technical director Joe Larkin and costume designer Sika Berger.
Since its founding in 1971, the high school Drama Company has added a middle school club, an improvisational comedy troupe and regular seminars led by local theater professionals.
The play will be performed at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26 and 2 p.m. Oct. 27. Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for general admission and $5 for Hampshire Regional students, children under 12 and senior citizens.
