One injured in accident on Route 66 in Northampton
NORTHAMPTON — A passenger was injured in an accident at the intersection of Westhampton Road (Route 66) and Florence Road Sunday at 7:12 p.m.
Donna Jacob, 56, of 25 Redman Place, Fitchburg, was treated and released from Cooley Dickinson Hospital after complaining of head pain.
Police Sgt. Craig Kirouac said driver Sheryl Jacob, 50, of Fitchburg, was traveling east on Westhampton Road when she failed to stop at a red light due to sun glare. Her vehicle struck another vehicle traveling through the intersection on Florence Road driven by Robert Smart, 29, of Westfield.
Jacob was cited for failing to stop at a traffic signal and both cars had to be towed from the scene, Kirouac said.
