James Sullivan: Help give life by becoming organ or tissue donor
To the editor:
As a recent kidney transplant recipient I wanted to let your readers know that April is National Donate Life Month.
President Obama’s proclamation on this says, in part, “Today, more than 115,000 men, women and children are on the waiting list for an organ transplant. To help them get the care they need, millions of Americans choose to be organ and tissue donors — a decision that reflects not only profound generosity, but also our commitment to one another. During National Donate Life Month, we renew the call for organ and tissue donation.”
Anyone interested in finding more information can visit the Donate Life New England site at www.donatelifenewengland.org.
I was very lucky to get my transplant, but there are many people still on an organ or tissue waiting list hoping for the call that will save their lives. You could make that call possible.
There is a way to donate life. Please consider becoming an organ or tissue donor.
