Area police news
■ Mohammed J. Gholam, 31, of 10 Bayberry Drive, was arrested at home Monday at 6:09 p.m. on a warrant.
■ Dennis A. Lebeau, 42, of 12 Gross Lane, was arrested Friday at 10:50 p.m. on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and possession with intent to distribute a class D drug (marijuana) after his car crashed into a telephone pole on East Street. He was not hurt, police said.
■ A resident of Kenneth Road told police Friday at 3:17 p.m. that someone took her purse from her unlocked parked car.
■ Police expect to file charges against a man they said stole a wallet from a woman in Rite Aid on Union Street Friday at 3:11 p.m. Police said she left her wallet on the counter briefly to chase after her children and the man took it and ran.
■ Police are investigating a break-in after a Park Street resident reported Friday at 11:18 a.m. that someone gained access to the house via a window and took $500 in cash while the resident was asleep.
■ Bruce Korona, 55, of 29 West St., was arrested at home Friday at 11 a.m. on a warrant.
∎ Jennifer Rachel Grayson, 21, of 155 West St., Apt. 1, was arrested about 1:26 a.m. Tuesday on Route 5 near its intersection with Interstate 91 on a charge of failure to stop for police and a marked lanes violation.
Xavier Edwardo Nazario, 21, of 241 Jackson St., Apt. 4B, was arrested during the same incident on a charge of assault and battery on a police officer and a Springfield District Court warrant related to motor vehicle charges, police said. He allegedly kicked an officer in the leg while he was being frisked, police said.
∎ Matthew James Moran, 29, of 129 Pleasant St., Apt. 1, was arrested at 4:14 p.m. Monday in the Northampton Industrial Park on charges of domestic assault and battery, felony breaking and entering, vandalizing property and malicious damage to a motor vehicle. Police said Moran allegedly entered a Belanger Place home of an ex-boyfriend at 3 a.m. Sunday, where he vandalized a television and mirror and smashed two car windows. He later met the victim in an alleyway outside the home and the two got into a fight, police said.
∎ Lynn Ann Lafreniere, 40, of 3 Laurel Ave., Easthampton, was arrested at 3:01 p.m. Monday at Wal-Mart, 180 North King St., on charges of shoplifting (second offense) and trespassing. Police said Lafreniere left the store without paying for $100 worth of items.
