Consider the plight of our homeless vets

To the editor:

Consider those who volunteer their services to protect our country as soldiers. Let’s say in three of four years of serving I am deployed to war zones in countries I have hardly heard of. I may not even be certain of why I’m there or the real reasons why I am serving.

My mission is to kill some people but not others. Some of my fellow soldiers suggest that we are there in defense of democracy. So we fight.

Those of us who are lucky manage to survive these ongoing battles. But now here comes the kicker. When we are finally released from our war duties, having lost contact with whatever life we had before, too many of us come home to nothing.

Disturbed, befuddled and wandering around homeless and jobless not knowing what to do.
