Need to develop weapons that won’t kill
To the editor:
How often in the future will we be saddened and outraged over shooting sprees in our schools? Well, that depends on you.
I would like to address the needs of children, who need to be safe, and those who want to bear arms as they act out their constitutional right to be safe.
You know, the only problem with guns is that they can kill. I think we need to bear arms that allow us to be safe but don’t kill. I suggest that the manufacture of weapons that don’t kill become a new and growing industry.
Maybe these weapons would send an electrical shock or something that would tranquilize a target, something besides a bullet that would control an assailant but won’t eliminate him or her.
Can you at least consider supporting a new weapons industry and the elimination of weapons of mass destruction — guns (as demonstrated in Newtown)? If not, what are you really choosing?
