Three coin collections reported missing in Easthampton
EASTHAMPTON — Police are investigating after three coin collections were reportedly taken from homes within the last week, although they have no evidence to link the thefts.
Police Sgt. Bruce Nicol said the incidents are a reminder to residents to lock their doors.
On Saturday just after noon, a resident of Holyoke Street reported that someone had broken in and taken more than $100 worth of coins, as well as $1,400 in jewelry. The home was unlocked, Nicol said.
A resident of Lawson Drive told police at 10 a.m. Friday that his coin collection, valued at $1,200, was missing. That home also was unlocked, Nicol said.
A resident of Spring Street reported at 10:40 a.m. Thursday that someone had broken into his home and taken his coin collection, including rolls of presidential dollars and other coins, valued at $1,045. There were no signs of forced entry, Nicol said.
